Illuvium
This week Illuvium was announced, an RPG NFT open world game with auto-battle mechanics.
The game is scheduled for a Q3 release and is being launched by two of Synthetix founder Kain Warwick’s brothers.
The game is being built on Immutable-X, a hyper scalable Ethereum layer two from the makers of Gods Unchained.
Fees earned within the game will be distributed to the games stakers, and it’s expected that play-to-earn mechanics will be present.
Game Play
Illuvium’s gameplay will feature an open world where players can discover Illuvials, mysterious deity creatures with provable scarcity as NFT tokens. Illuvials have both an affinity and a class, and players need to build a team that has strong synergy. Players set up their team versus an opponent and battles happen automatically.
There are also hyper rare creatures that are expected to be highly valuable.
Illuvials can also fuse to take a greater form when three of the same creature are captured and levelled to max.
Conclusion
Illuvials seems like an interesting new development in the Ethereum gaming ecosystem, a blend of open world exploration, collecting, and tactical PVP auto-battling. The industry is going from strength to strength and this new release may join Axie Infinity and Dark Forest with strong player bases. The game’s close association with Kain Warwick will also likely help it gain traction.
