Interview With Pickle Finance's Larry The Cucumber - Decentralise #43
The hack, working with Yearn, and Pickle's future.
Interview With a Cucumber
Pickle Finance has been one of the projects I’ve been reporting on heavily since I started Decentralise.
The engaged and welcoming community made a big impression on me, and I’ve been happy to help out wherever I can.
Recently Pickle has been on an absolute roller coaster, initially losing $20m to a highly complex hack. Following that event the project has built a close connection with Yearn, and was the first announced merger since Yearn’s acquisition spree.
Today I had the opportunity to sit down with founder Larry The Cucumber and ask him about everything that’s happened and his thoughts on the project’s future.
I hope it’s helpful!
1) Thanks for taking the time today Larry! For anyone who's new to Pickle would you be able to give a brief overview of what you guys do and why you started?
2) It's been a crazy busy few weeks for Pickle. We had the hack and then the integration with Yearn. How's everything going and how are you feeling now?
3) What's been your first impression now that you guys are working closely with the Yearn ecosystem? How do they do things and what are your thoughts on the benefits of their rapidly expanding ecosystem?
4) I got heavily involved in the project a couple of months ago, and what made me stick around was the really engaged and welcoming community. Even after the hack most people had complete faith in you guys and the future of the project, why do you think this is and how can other projects build engaged communities?
5) Let's talk about the Pickle roadmap. Obviously a lot has changed with the Yearn news, but as I see it there's now huge potential for growth, both for Total Value Locked and Pickle token growth (4 year lockups for rewards boosts etc). What are you thoughts?
6) There's going to be continued governance through the Dill token. Pickle has a highly active governance community, how do you feel about the Pickle's governance and autonomy moving forwards?
7) We know that Pickle jars are going to be available as Yearn vaults, but will you guys keep your own UI and jar branding? Some have criticised the Pickle branding as not mature enough, what are your thoughts on it now? Would you move away from the emoji logo to something more professional, as Sushi has done?
8) Thanks for taking the time today! Final question, we saw how creative the community is with the Pickle challenge with users submitting their memes and content, and people are really keen to help out more. What's your suggestion for people who want to help the project grow?
Conclusion
That’s all for today everyone. If you’re interested in learning more about Pickle and their integration with Yearn head on over to the community Discord.
Don’t forget to subscribe if you like this new type of content, I’m planning a few more very special interviews to release over the next few days.
